A man has been crushed to death by steel pipes in a horrific workplace incident in north Queensland this morning.

A man has been killed in a workplace incident in Townsville.
Authorities responded to reports a man had been crushed by a quantity of steel pipes at Casa Engineering on Enterprise Street at Bohle about 10.15am.
It is understood the pipes had fallen from a truck that was being unloaded at the time.
A 62-year-old male employee died at the scene, police have confirmed.
It is understood the man suffered serious head injuries.
“For reasons under investigation the steel piping has moved suddenly on the vehicle.” Senior Sergeant Scot Warrick said.
“It’s fallen off and has struck the male person. A forklift was being used at the time.”
“We will be looking at all the avenues, on the loading, the storing, the securing and whether the forklift had anything to do with it as well.”
The exact weight of the piping was not known.
Snr Sgt Warrick said employees on site were very distressed.
The Forensic Crash Unit and Workplace Health and Safety are investigating.
