A Brisbane City Council mechanic hit by a "heavy projectile" in an accident at a bus maintenance depot has been seriously injured.

The man was working in the council's workshop on Sherbrooke Road in Willawong, on Brisbane's south side, when the accident happened.
Emergency services were called just before 10am after the man, believed to be aged in his 60s, was "hit by a heavy projectile with force", according to the Queensland Ambulance Service.
He was treated by critical care paramedics and taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious condition with head and facial injuries.
